Albacom stands at the forefront of power electronics innovation, specialising in the design and manufacture of high-voltage power supply systems engineered for the most demanding environments. Founded following the strategic acquisition of Ferranti Dundee by its senior engineering team, we carry a legacy of precision and reliability in serving defence, aviation, and industrial sectors.
With deep expertise spanning over three decades, our dedicated team of engineers and technicians brings collective expertise exceeding 180 years, empowering us to deliver bespoke, end-to-end solutions that combine electronic design, machining, mechanical integration, lifting systems, and rigorous testing capabilities—all under one roof.
In our state-of-the-art 14,000 ft² facility in Dundee, we’re equipped to manage every phase of development—from concept and high-voltage power supply design to CNC machining, mechanical assembly, environmental testing, and final deployment.

THE TEAM
OUR HERITAGE
1953
Established as a division of Ferranti – a UK based electrical engineering company that operated for over century and was a major supplier of electronics during World War 2.
1990
Management buyout.
Albacom as we know it is born. The name ‘Alba’ is derived from the ancient word for Scotland, and ‘com’ refers to our expertise in microwave communications.
2005
Purpose built headquarters opened.
Our facilities include a 14,000sq ft office and factory space in Dundee, central Scotland.
2010
Approved ISO EN9001 status.
A standard for quality management systems is recognised internationally and applicable to all industries.
2015
Lifting & Electric Motor Winding Division.
Our business diversified to include the supply, commission and load test of ‘below hook’ industrial lifting equipment and a full refurbishment, repair, rewinding and testing service for up to 200kW motors.
2017
We enhanced our capabilities through acquisition, allowing us to tackle challenging technical requirements of component manufacture and assembly build/supply.
2020
Investment for the future.
A six figure investment as part of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Growth Scheme to develop business in new markets and support international expansion, on-shoring initiatives and to expand on innovative offerings and multiple services.
OUR FACILITY
Our facility include a 14,000sq ft purpose-built office and factory space.
Based in central Scotland, Dundee is only 90 minutes’ drive from 90% of the Scottish population. Easily accessible by road, rail, sea and air it is strategically located on the east coast of Scotland. Its regional airport provides easy connections to London and Belfast and the ring road which circles the outskirts of Dundee provides fast and efficient road links in and out of the city.
